Sixth Framework Programme 2002-2006 (FP6)
  The FP is the EU’s main instrument for research funding in Europe. The FP is proposed by the European Commission and adopted by Council and the European Parliament following a co-decision procedure. FPs cover a period of five years with the last year of one FP and the first year of the following FP overlapping. FPs have been implemented since 1984. The Sixth FP (FP6) is operational since January 1, 2003.

Strategisch basisonderzoek doctoraatsbeurs (stategic basic research grants) (Flemish authorities)
  This stategic basic research grant gives to the PhD student means of support which allow the achievement of a doctorate in an university of the Flemish Community. This doctorate must result from a project that in a certain extent is applied research.

Swift Award
  Created in 1998, the SWIFT Fund 'linking people through technology' aims each year to award an idea or project making use of new technologies to contribute or to increase durable links between two groups of individuals. Priority for the award of this annual prize, worth 50,000 euros is given to an original project accessible to the greatest number and benefitting all. The sixth call for projects, organized both in Belgium and the Netherlands, has been launched and will end on 15 July 2003.

  Télévie is a solidarity initiative collecting funds for fighting cancer and in particular childhood leukaemia. Thanks to donations, Télévie is able to offer each year a full-time position to around 100 researchers in the field of cancerology. Collected funds are fully transferred to and managed by the FNRS (Fonds National de la Recherche Scientifique).
