  The CIS and the CFS are two permanent commissions of the Interministerial Conference for Science Policy. They administratively manage the consultation on matters of interest to the federal authority and the federated entities, respectively at the international and at the Belgian level.

  The Interuniversity Attraction Poles (IAP) programme provides a temporary impulse in order to create interuniversity networks of excellence in basic research in Belgium. The IAP phase-V (2002-2006) contains 36 networks involving 261 research teams. The IAP are an initiative of and are financed by the Belgian Federal Science Policy.
